First steps
- Read the notice board on the Village Green. It points you to your first jobs.
- People with a gold ! over their heads have work for you. The quest tracker under the minimap shows what's next.
- Heatherway lies down Greenhollow's east road. Its barrow hounds are your first real fight.
- Find company with the Group Finder. A friend nearby can Aid you if you go down.
Choosing a class
You start as a Wayfarer. From level 5, visit a trainer in Greenhollow to take a provisional class: Warrior, Rogue, Mage, Priest or Monk. It's free, and you can drop it any time.
At level 20 you dedicate to a class for life, or remain a Wayfarer for good. Abilities are free to learn. You pick 6 active and 4 passive ones for your loadout, and you can reset your attribute points out of combat.
Faith
From level 3 you can pledge to one of the six Old Powers at its shrine. Two stand in Greenhollow's Circle of Offerings; the other four are out on Heatherway. Pray every 20 minutes, leave offerings and do your Power's favoured deed to raise your rank. Faith brings titles, auras and Favor. It never changes combat.
If you fall
At zero health you are Downed for 30 seconds. Any player can click you to Aid you back up at a quarter of your health.
If no one does, you die: you gain a Scar, your gear wears, and some of your current XP becomes Echo, which you earn back over time. You never lose a level. Release to return to Greenhollow's sanctuary.
